There’s not much that warms the heart of your old Uncle Creepy more than zombies, especially when they’re contained within such a rich universe as the one created by Robert Kirkman in The Walking Dead. Which is why I’m ecstatic to report that a start date has been set for the filming of the pilot for Frank Darabont’s The Walking Dead TV adaptation on AMC.

According to Bloody Disgusting May 15th is the day when shooting will commence in Atlanta, Georgia. Published by Image Comics, The Walking Dead chronicles the months and years following a zombie apocalypse. Darabont is the project’s writer, director, and exec producer with Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert also exec producing.

With the lensing date locked, it can’t be long now before some casting news starts trickling in. We want to know who’s going to be playing Rick, damnit! And Carl and Lori and Glenn and Maggie … and all the rest!
