Dead Island Games Being Remastered; 2D Spin-off Dead Island: Retro Revenge Announced
The original Dead Island and its spin-off, Riptide, certainly weren’t masterpieces, but they still provided us with plenty of good old zombie-slaying fun. So the news that they’re both getting remastered is pretty damn sweet. Maybe they’ll also remember to fix those pesky bugs that really held the games back from being all that they could be.
But that’s not all, Hell no! There’s also an all-new game called Dead Island: Retro Revenge, which takes the series into 16-bit sidescrolling territory. There’s no footage of it yet, but we do have the screenshot below.
Both the remasters and Retro Revenge will be available on May 31st and should make up for the fact that Dead Island 2 still does not have a developer on board after German studio Yager was dropped by publisher Deep Silver.
Synopsis:
Deep Silver is bringing the iconic bone-crunching, skull-smashing, limb-breaking, blood-drenching, fan-loved Dead Island and Dead: Island Riptide to the next generation! Featuring fully remastered and greatly improved versions of both Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide, this set will deliver the ultimate Dead Island experience ever.
All three titles, Dead Island Definitive Edition, Dead Island: Riptide Definitive Edition, and Dead Island: Retro Revenge, plus the compilation Dead Island Definitive Collection, are scheduled for release May 31, 2016, on Xbox One, PlayStation, and Windows PC.
