Oxenfree Launches; Trailer Arrives

Oxenfree is a very different video game than the norm, and that’s what sets it apart! Check out this newly released launch trailer, and look for the game on Steam and Xbox One now!

The first must-play game of 2016 has arrived! Today, Night School Studio released OXENFREE, a supernatural thriller adventure game. Making its debut on Xbox One, Windows 10, and Steam (PC and Mac) for $19.99 USD, players will take on the role of Alex as she brings her new step-brother, Jonas, to an overnight party on an abandoned military island gone horribly wrong. Described as “Freaks and Geeks” meets Poltergeist, OXENFREE is an exhilarating coming-of-age tale for the masses. To celebrate the launch of the title the developers have also released a new OXENFREE trailer.
Yesterday, Night School Studio revealed they partnered with iam8bit to produce the official Collector’s Edition for OXENFREE. Those that purchase the Collector’s Edition will immediately receive a download code for the game on the platform of their choice, as well as a download code for demo songs from OXENFREE’S supporting character Ren’s band. The Collector’s Edition is now on sale for $55 through iam8bit’s official store and can be shipped worldwide (expected to ship at the end of February).

Founded in 2014 by Telltale and Disney alumni, Night School Studio aims to create entertainment filled with wonder, danger, and humor. The studio recently announced a co-branding franchise agreement with Robert Kirkman’s Skybound Entertainment to bring the story to film, docuseries, merchandise, and more. The game was praised as “the first must play game of 2016” by the LA Times, and VICE hails it as “an indie gaming essential.”
Earlier this month, OXENFREE was also nominated as a finalist in Excellence in Visual Art for the 2016 Independent Game Festival (IGF) Awards and received honorable mentions in Excellence in Narrative, Excellence in Audio, and the Seumas McNally Grand Prize categories.
