Every time we get to do another story on Nimrod Antal’s semi-reboot of the Predator franchise, Predators, which is being produced by Robert Rodriguez, we get a little more excited. If only because neither Paul Anderson nor the dark duo of the Brothers Strause have anything to do with it. Ready for a quick look at where our favorite hunters call home?

Texas’ KNGB News reports today that Troublemaker Studios recently used Canyon Lake Gorge in Texas as a backdrop for Predators, adding that the location will be used as a portion of the Predators’ home planet in 20th Century Fox’s Predator reboot of sorts that will be arriving in theaters July 9th, 2010.

“Specifically, they went to a spot that 10 years ago didn’t exist, but after the flood of 2001, when water went over the spillway at Canyon Lake, a huge gorge was cut out of the landscape, and apparently the filmmakers thought the gorge was the perfect look to create an alien landscape,” reports KNGB.

Predators stars Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Danny Trejo, Walton Goggins, and Alice Braga, who are kidnapped and whisked away to the Predator home planet where they are hunted.
