Proudly declaring at 0:27 that it’s “The First Tamil Zombie Film,” the trailer for Miruthan sadly has no dialogue subtitles but seems to be relatively easy to follow.
In India horror films have never really had much mainstream appeal, and although there have been several Bollywood zombie movies, it’s great to see that Tamil cinema is now also embracing the phenomenon. Shakti Soundar Rajan, the man behind the hit comedy Naaigal Jaakirathai, directs; and with big-name star Jayam Ravi in the lead, it’s bound to be a success. It hits India cinemas on 15 January 2016.
