The Crow Remake Shooting Next Year; Star Not Yet Found
We’ve written so many news stories about the planned reboot of The Crow that we must admit we’re starting to lose both interest and faith, but new reports suggest that the project is still being developed – despite Relativity filing for bankruptcy and several stars dropping out.
The latest word comes from Variety, who nabbed an interview with producer Edward R. Pressman. He seems confident that the film will begin shooting next year, and Corin Hardy (The Hallow) is still attached to direct. Who’s playing Eric Draven? The role has yet to be filled.
“Despite Relativity’s problems, we’re going ahead now,” Pressman told the outlet. “Relativity is putting up a good amount of money to do that. They are putting up significant holding money. They are moving ahead in a constructive and positive way, and [head of Relativity] Ryan Kavanaugh seems totally committed to this theme.”
“Corin and I are discussing as we speak who to go to, to play The Crow,” he added. “We’ll find The Crow and shoot it in the first half of next year.”
The original 1994 film was directed by Alex Proyas and starred Brandon Lee in his final movie role. Based on James O’ Barr’s neo-noir comic book novel first published in 1989, the film centers on Eric Draven, a murdered man who comes back to life as an undead avenger.
