Many called this year’s The Visit a return to form for M. Night Shyamalan, and in many ways it indeed was. At the very least, it marked the director’s return to the horror genre, and up next he re-teams with Jason Blum for an untitled supernatural thriller. Read on for the latest!

Per THR, James McAvoy is in negotiations to star in Shyamalan’s next genre film, taking over a role that was originally meant for Joaquin Phoenix. The project was going to re-team Phoenix with Shyamalan for the first time since 2002’s Signs, though a deal apparently couldn’t be reached.

At the moment, details about the thriller remain under wraps, as is often the case when it comes to Shyamalan.

Along with Blum, Marc Bienstock is producing the new movie project. Ashwin Rajan and Steven Schneider are on board as exec producers.
