Skynet Finally Brought Down by Poor Terminator Box Office Returns

Never mind re-programmed robots, heavy guns, or post-apocalyptic warriors hellbent on saving the human race from a computer-driven armageddon… turns out the easiest way to make sure that Skynet didn’t launch was simply to not go to the theatre to see Terminator: Genisys.

According to THR Terminator: Genisys opened to a soft $27 million domestic. The film did well overseas, especially in China, where it grossed $112 million. But the $150 million-plus movie still will lose money, and sources say the notion of a Terminator universe is on hold indefinitely.

Let’s face it though… was anyone really excited to see an aging Terminator? It would be hard to replace Arnold Schwarzenegger as those are some mighty big shoes to fill, but I wouldn’t be adverse to seeing a younger CG-enhanced Arnie be the star of the show. In the last two Terminator films the times when the faux-Arnold graced the screen were the best in the movie. Is it that hard to figure out? What do you guys think?

A few CGI touch-ups and we’re good as new!
