More damned fine casting news has come in for the upcoming new season of David Lynch’s “Twin Peaks” as Deadline is reporting that Robert Knepper has been tapped for a recurring role on the Showtime production alongside fellow new resident Amanda Seyfried.

The only actor officially confirmed for the new “Twin Peaks” is original star Kyle MacLachlan who is set to reprise his role as Dale Cooper. Many other fan favorite characters from the ABC run of the series are expected to return. “You should be optimistic that the people you want to be there will be there, in addition to some surprises,” Showtime president David Nevins said last month.

That reportedly included Catherine Coulson, who played the memorable Log Lady, though it is unclear whether she had been able to film any new footage. Coulson died of cancer earlier this week. Deadline goes on to report that among those coming back is David Patrick Kelly, reprising his role as Jerry Home. Richard Beymer had been rumored to also resurrect his character of Jerry’s brother Benjamin.

“Twin Peaks” has been in production for about two weeks, with Lynch directing. He is expected to shoot the series continuously as a movie, and later cut it into episodes.
