Among the Sleep was a different kind of horror game. Instead of bombarding you with gore and whatever else you’d expect to find in an adult title, it instead placed you into the shoes of a toddler as he becomes trapped in dark and sinister environments with only his teddy bear to protect him. Yup, we’re in indie game territory, and, man, was it great.
It sold an okay but not brilliant 100,000 units on PC, but now thankfully many more people will be able to experience this surreal masterpiece as it heads to PS4 on December 10 with improved visuals and audio. Better start hugging your teddy bears.
Among the Sleep is a first person horror adventure, in which you play a two-year old child. After waking up in the middle of the night to mysterious sounds, you start exploring the dark looking for comfort.
The game explores horror through atmosphere and exploration, not with scores and combat systems. In Among the Sleep you’re vulnerable, scared, and trying to make sense of the world.
