New Films International (NFI) is releasing horror film Living Dark: The Story of Ted the Caver theatrically in 11 markets and on VOD today (October 2nd) with a digital rollout to follow.

The film stars Chris Cleveland (below left; The Prestige), Matthew Alan (below right; Dead Water, 2084), Mark Hayter (Mexican Gold), and Circus-Szalewski (Farewell Darkness, Cup of My Blood). David Hunt (Greater) directed and adapted the screenplay with Ken Brown.

Producing along with Hunt are Joseph Armour, Marc Crandall, and Thomas Olaimey. Executive producers include Nesim Hason, Serap Acuner, Ron Gell, and Keith Birkfeld.

The film is based on the internationally popular “Ted the Caver” internet legend that originated in 2000 about a man whoembarked on a journey with his friend to discover what lies beyond the reaches of a small hole in the earth at the bottom of a cave.

Living Dark tells the story of two estranged brothers, who are reunited for their father’s funeral. Attempting reconciliation, the brothers stumble upon the entrance to a cave and are slowly forced to confront the nightmarish truth behind their father’s death – that something terrifying lives below the Earth.

New Films International president Nesim Hason said, “David Hunt’s terrifying screenplay is sure to leave audiences on the edge of their seats. While the internet legend has since been debunked, the haunting story was considered all too real in its height.”
