Ridley Scott Explains Prometheus Sequel Title Alien: Paradise Lost
Up until this week, Ridley Scott had been ensuring everyone that the first sequel to Prometheus would distance itself from the Alien franchise, which is why it was quite surprising when he announced that the film will now be titled Alien: Paradise Lost. Say what?!
In a (very brief) new interview with Hey U Guys, Scott clarified the meaning of the title, suggesting that the Alien connection will be strong in this one.
“We’re heading back to why and how and when the beast was invented,” Scott noted, when asked about the title. “We’ll go back into the backdoor of the very first Alien that I did 30 years ago.”
As recently noted, Scott is planning three sequels to Prometheus, leaving the fate of Neill Blomkamp’s Alien sequel up in the air.
