JT Petty is someone whose career we’ve been keeping our eyes on for some time now, and his next project was just announced today: the “hilariously scary romp” entitled My Only Sunshine.  We’re not sure how Dread-worthy this will turn out being, but we’ll keep you posted if things do seem to be landing on the horror side of the fence.

From the Press Release:
Traveling Picture Show Company (TPSC) announced today that JT Petty (THE BURROWERS, HELLBENDERS, GONE: VR360) will direct the upcoming thriller MY ONLY SUNSHINE, which is based on a script he wrote with Kate Petty. Carissa Buffel, Kevin Matusow, and Steven Chester Prince of TPSC will finance and produce in association with Lawrence Mattis and Matt Smith of Circle of Confusion.

CAA is packaging the project and will represent the North American rights. Mary Vernieu and Venus Kanani are currently casting with principal photography set to begin in early 2016 in Ottawa.

A pair of ruthless bank robbers plan a heist on a local bank in order to fund their long awaited divorce. Unfortunately, the plan takes several unexpected turns as this couple wreaks havoc on all involved. MY ONLY SUNSHINE is a hilariously scary romp based on a couple who have serious commitment issues.

TPSC Films president Steven Chester Prince said: “We met with JT to discuss MY ONLY SUNSHINE and recognized this as the perfect addition to our growing portfolio. JT has created something completely original, elevating the action/horror genre with his unique characters and dynamic, biting dialogue. JT’s background in video games will no doubt lend itself to telling this twisted take, reminiscent of such cult favorites as NATURAL BORN KILLERS and FROM DUSK TILL DAWN.”

In addition to his films, Petty comes from an impressive background of screenwriting for hit video games such as The Walking Dead: The Game – Season 2, Batman Begins, and Batman: Vengeance.
