Details on Possible Celebrity Cameo in Ghostbusters Reboot
Filming is well under way on Paul Feig’s reboot of 1984 classic Ghostbusters, and word from the set is that a big name musician may be popping up for a fun little cameo. We of course don’t want to spoil the details for anyone who doesn’t want them spoiled, so read on only if you can’t wait!
As reported by The Boston Herald, Feig spent most of this week shooting a heavy metal concert scene at the Citi Wang Theatre, and rumor is that Ozzy Osbourne was the headliner for the faux stage show that will appear in the film. The Wang marquee was transformed into the Stonebrook Theatre for the shoot.
Posters outside the theater advertised a “Rock Revenge Fest featuring Ozzy Osbourne” as part of a “12 Hour Marathon of Metal.” Osbourne’s involvement hasn’t yet been confirmed by Feig, nor was he actually spotted on set, but all signs certainly point to him popping up for an appearance.
In Ghostbusters, Melissa McCarthy is Abby Yates, Kristen Wiig is Erin Gilbert, Leslie Jones is Patty Tolan, and Kate McKinnon is Jillian Holtzmann.
Wiig and McCarthy play a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. Flash-forward a few years and Wiig lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia U. Which is pretty sweet, until her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia.
Wiig reunites with McCarthy and the other two proton pack-packing phantom wranglers, and she gets some sweet revenge when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world.
The Ghostbusters reboot will haunt the big screen on July 15, 2016.
