Latest on Friday the 13th Reboot; First Draft Turned In
What we know so far about the next Friday the 13th film is that it won’t be a sequel to the 2009 remake or a found footage film, and that David Bruckner (The Signal) is attached to direct. Penning the screenplay is Nick Antosca, who reveals that the first draft has been handed in.
Over on Twitter this past weekend, Antosca replied to a fan’s question about the project, noting that he “turned in a draft a few weeks ago.” The “Hannibal” writer went on to say “David Bruckner, Platinum Dunes & I all excited to make a great F13 movie. Don’t know schedule.”
Last we heard, it’s possible that the reboot will be set in the 80s, and Platinum Dunes producer Brad Fuller recently noted that they’re looking to go back to the series’ old-school, summer camp roots. With Antosca and Bruckner on board, all is sounding pretty good about this one.
Paramount is aiming for a Friday, May 13, 2016, release. More soon!
