Dead Air to Screen Both Sides of the Atlantic

Dead AirAttending guests of the Cannes and Fangoria film festivals will be able to attend sneak peek screenings of Corbin Bernsen’s Dead Air over the coming months. Featuring genre star Bill Moseley as well as Patricia Tallman (Lyta, from Babylon 5!), the film describes the fire and chaos following a biological terrorist attack that causes infected citizens to turn on one another in a murderous rage.

The story certainly echos the plots of other recent films, such as 28 Days Later or The Signal, though director Corbin Bernsen is hoping to sew something a little deeper. “We wanted to make a movie that wasn’t just a maniacs-on-the-loose-killing-everyone movie, although we certainly have that, but one that strikes a deeper chord of what people are really scared about today,” Bernsen has said. “You take swine flu, take 9/11, whip that together into a real doomsday scenario, and that’s the kind of event Dead Air explores.”

One of the other interesting bits is that Moseley is playing a character far different than that for which he’s known. His role has been described as that as a hard-edged radio talk show host who is also a “heroic family man”, which differs sharply than most of his other roles (excepting Chop Top, who loved his family very much and was likely considered heroic, if only in their eyes).

Dead Air is scheduled to screen on Monday, May 18 at 11:30 AM, at Palais D of the Cannes Film Festival, and then on June 6 at 6:00 PM, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center during the New York Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors. Have fun!
