Hellboy 3 Unlikely Says Guillermo del Toro

Franchise star Ron Perlman has recently taken to social media in an effort to gauge fan interest in a possible Hellboy 3, which both he and Guillermo del Toro have been eager to get off the ground for quite some time now. Alas, it just doesn’t seem like it’s in the cards.

Per The Daily Beast, Guillermo del Toro spoke about Hellboy 3 at Comic-Con last weekend, and his comments about the potential sequel somehow slipped under our radar until now. In so many words, he doesn’t feel that the studio has much interest in backing the project.

The hard fact is that the movie’s going to need about $120 million, and there’s nobody knocking down our doors to give it to us,” he told the site. “It’s a little beyond Kickstarter.”

It would be great to complete the trilogy,” the visionary director continued, “but in a way I don’t see the world—the industry—supporting that idea.”

Ron Perlman’s plan, if Hellboy 3 ever does happen, is that the sequel would find the titular character becoming the beast of the Apocalypse so that he can vanquish his foe and become the darker character he is destined to be.

Will the trilogy ever be completed? I suppose only time will tell.
