Around 90% of us here at Dread Central are avid gamers, and that’s why you’ll find lots of horror video game coverage here on DC. A good portion of our audience are gamers as well, and it’s for this reason that we honor the passing of one of the most beloved members of the gaming community, Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata.

Unfortunately, Iwata-San passed away this past weekend at the all-too-young age of just 55. During his tenure as chief executive of Nintendo, Iwata oversaw the introduction of gaming systems such as the Nintendo DS, the Wii, and the Wii U. His name became synonymous with all things Nintendo, and his passion – and more so his beaming smile – will always be missed.

Iwata was struggling recently due to a cancerous bile duct growth, and it ultimately led to his sad demise.

We here at Dread Central would like to offer our sincerest of condolences to Iwata and thank him for all the time and love he put into making sure gamers always had something to smile about. His mark has been left, and it will always be acknowledged.

あなたが長年にわたって私たちを持ってきたすべての幸福のためにあなたの先生に感謝します。あなたは、従来のがこの先何年もの間、他人の笑顔で生きますね。神のお恵みがありますように。安心。

Satoru Iwata
