Lavalantula Spins a Web Around New Images and a New Clip

If you haven’t grown impossibly tired of the low-budget monster movies that tend to debut on Syfy, then you should be more than happy about director Mike Mendez’s upcoming creature feature Lavalantula. Mendez, who directed Big Ass Spider! and The Convent (a personal favorite, I might add), has put together a film that looks and sounds absolutely ridiculous. However, after spending some time with the latest images and the new clip, I’m curious to see how this one plays out.

Of course, the icing on this cheesy eight-legged cake is the unexpected reunion that takes place during the film. Leslie Easterbrook, Michael Winslow, and the always entertaining Steve Guttenberg all appear in Lavalantula at some point, giving diehard Police Academy fans a reason to tune in. Yes, there are Police Academy fans out there. I know I can’t be the only one.

Lavalantula, the only movie in existence about a deadly fire-breathing spider and the heroic individuals who are tasked with destroying it, debuts on the Syfy channel on Saturday, July 25, at 9 p.m. If you want to see the clip, swing by the Syfy website.
