The interesting thing about AMC’s spinoff “Fear the Walking Dead” is not just that it centers on a new group of characters, but also that it takes place during the early days of the zombie apocalypse. The trailer just made its way out of Comic-Con, and it’s suitably intense. Dig it!

“Fear the Walking Dead” premieres August 23rd, 2015. The first season will consist of six one-hour episodes. The second season will air in 2016.

The cast includes Cliff Curtis, Colman Domingo, Ruben Blades, Kim Dickens, Alycia Debnam Carey, Mercedes Mason, Shawn Hatosy, and Frank Dillane.  The series is set in Los Angeles and focuses on new characters and storylines.

Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero, and David Alpert from “The Walking Dead” are executive producers of the new series, which, like the original, is being produced by AMC Studios. Dave Erickson (“Marco Polo,” “Sons of Anarchy”), who co-created and co-wrote the pilot with Kirkman, is an executive producer and showrunner.

Synopsis:
“Fear the Walking Dead” takes us back to the beginning of the zombie apocalypse – a time when the world was changing rapidly for reasons unknown, before anyone understood exactly what was happening, when life as everyone knew it was upended and altered in ways no one could have ever imagined.
