We warned you that Saturday, July 11th, aka Day 3 of this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, is pretty horror-heavy; and now that the schedule has arrived, you’ll see what we mean.

It may start out a bit slow, but by the time the evening rolls around, genre fans will have spent some time with Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (finally!), Crimson Peak, The Hive, Patient Zero, “Hannibal,” the witches of “Salem,” the “Grimm” and “Z Nation” gangs, some gorgeous “Scream Queens,” Robert Kirkman’s “Outcast” TV series and The Walking Dead comics, fan favorites like David Anders, Kathy Bates, and Norman Reedus, and the Kaiju Kingdom. Some will have even gotten a sneak peek of “The Simpsons’ Treehouse of Horror XXVI”!

11:30am – Comics Arts Conference #10: Focus on Dave McCaig
At the forefront of the recent commercial and critical attention for colorists stands CAC special guest Dave McCaig. His colors can be found in a wide range of comics: supernatural historical fiction (American Vampire, Northlanders), mainstream superhero comics (New Avengers, Superman: Birthright), and cult favorites (Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E., Stephan Colbert’s Tek Jansen). Besides TV, he has worked on the Batman animated series (2005) and the fourth Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated film. An advocate for comic colorists, McCaig started and moderates Gutter Zombie, an online forum for working colorists. Keegan Lannon (Seagull Institute) will moderate a conversation with McCaig about color, colorists, and comics.

When a mysterious and deadly epidemic breaks out in Atlanta, a vast urban quarantine is quickly enforced, forcing those stuck on the inside to fight for their lives while local and federal officials desperately search for a cure in Containment. Torn apart from their loved ones, the survivors trapped within the cordon are fighting against not only fatal infection, but also isolation, fear, and the disintegration of society around them. But as they begin to gain each other’s trust, hope remains, and on either side of the cordon unlikely heroes will rise. Containment makes its Comic-Con debut with a special screening of the entire pilot episode, followed by a Q&A with series stars and producers. World premiere! The lost 1954 EC sci-fi classic will be shown in 3D for the first time ever. Captured Aural Phantasy Theater, the only group authorized by the Gaines family to perform EC stories, dramatically reads excerpts from the unpublished comic, highlighting a discussion by Ben Dickow (guest lecturer, Otis College of Art) and Eric Kurland (president, LA 3D Club). Joined by Ryan Coogler (director, Dope), Murs (Hip Hop star), Michael Jai White (Dark Knight), Tyler James Williams (The Walking Dead), Kristina Law (Arrow), and Kellvin Chavez (editor, Latino-review). Cashmere Agency has worked with a slew of titles in the geekdom community, including Star Wars, The Boondocks, Tekken, and Black Jesus. NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD: DARKEST DAWN (formerly titled NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD: ORIGINS 3D) starring Tony Todd, Danielle Harris, Bill Moseley, R. Madhavan, Joseph Pilato and Tom Sizemore, will have a special world premiere event at Petco Park during SDCC at the zombie-themed Walker Stalker Fan Fest on Saturday, July 11th. Tickets are available exclusively on the film’s Indiegogo campaign page, which the filmmakers are using to help bring the film to more theaters (indoor and outdoor) across the country. Ticket purchasers will also receive the official theatrical movie poster which Joseph Pilato (and possibly more cast) will be on-hand to sign, and a free digital stream of the film. (Though this is a SDCC sanctioned event, SDCC and Walker Stalker passes ARE NOT required for premiere event entry.
