The Chosen Heads to Vimeo and Select Theaters This July

According to the official press release for The Chosen, the trailer for this upcoming horror flick is currently “breaking the internet.” This, of course, isn’t the case, given that I’ve written this article and you are, in fact, reading it. For the time being, I’ll quietly assume that causing the internet to experience some sort of technical malfunction is a good thing. After all, the cool kids are doing it.
Director Ben Jehoshua’s The Chosen, also known as the internationally-trending motion picture that “you’ve never heard of” — again from the press release — stars YouTube star Kiam Lawley as a guy who must save his little sister from a child-stealing demon. In order for that to happen, he’s gotta find someone to take her place. It’s kind of like It Follows without all that awkward teenage sex.
The Chosen will arrive exclusively on Vimeo, though the movie has a handful of theatrical dates lined up as well. Should you choose to order the flick ahead of its July 24 street date, you’ll get a free poster signed by star Kiam Lawley. What’s more, you’ll help the film to thoroughly “break the internet,” for whatever that’s worth. Have a look at the official trailer below.
