“Supernatural” to Add Third Brother?

I’ve never seen a single episode of “Supernatural”, so excuse my ignorance; I do know that it’s about two brothers traversing the country in a cool car, fighting all sorts of evil. TV Guide has now learned that it may soon be three brothers against evil, however.
TV Guide received exclusive word that Jake Able has been cast as the third Winchester brother, Adam, who will make his first appearance in the April 23rd episode, fittingly titled “Jump the Shark”. The existing Winchester brothers will learn that Adam is possibly the offspring of one of their father’s misadventures while hunting demons himself, though neither Adam nor the brothers were aware of the other’s existence.
Remember when they did this on “Diff’rent Strokes”? Or was it “Family Ties”? Adding another sibling is usually a last-ditch effort to keep a show popular, something I’ve heard “Supernatural” has had no problems with on its own. Maybe in this case it’s just a one-off for this episode? I guess viewers will find out in a few months!
