Bayona & Mangold Eyeing Eclipse?
Wow, it really is becoming the Harry Potter franchise with vampires … Thompson on Hollywood has learned that both Juan Antonio Bayona (pictured, The Orphanage) and James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma) are eying possibly directing the third movie in the “>Twilight franchise, Eclipse.
At least Summit’s not making any qualms about the fact that there’ll be a different director again this time, so it won’t be a surprise when “>New Moon helmer Chris Weitz isn’t asked to return.
Both directors are strong talents and could lend a serious voice to this franchise, which, if reactions to the first film are any indication, it’s desperately in need of. Of course it’s all rumor and conjecture until Summit makes a decision, which I doubt will happen before New Moon is done. Stay tuned for updates as we hear ‘em!
