Quantum Mechanix to Release Super 8 Alien Bust in March; Cube Prop Replica Available Now

If you’re a fan of JJ Abrams’ Super 8, starting this March, you can add your very own Limited Edition Alien Bust from the film to your horror collection. And to fill the time between now and then, you can play with the company’s Argus Cube Prop Replica, which is available already.

Created by artist Neville Page, world-renowned creature designer, this incredible Super 8 Alien Limited Edition Bust is taken directly from the 3D model used to make the creature effects in the Super 8 movie! Measuring 10-1/4inches x 4-3/4inches wide and weighing approximately 3 pounds, the Super 8 Alien Limited Edition Bust is the largest and most complex statue ever created by Quantum Mechanix. Both the master used to make the bust and the paint design were created by Mr. Page. As a result, it has an incredible amount of detail and complexity and is extremely accurate. Each bust in this limited edition comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity signed by Neville Page and includes an individually numbered plaque. It would be impossible to create a more meticulously accurate piece thanks to Mr. Page’s collaboration. It’ll make a terrific addition to your monster collection! Limited edition size still TBD.

If Aliens made LEGO, this is what they’d look like. From JJ Abrams’ sci-fi thriller Super 8, and using the 3D solid model files used to create the screen-used props, QMx has created an exact replica of the Argus Cube in passive mode. With a polystone core, the exterior of the cube is plated with a smooth pearlescent coating, perfectly replicating the semi-organic, semi-metallic finish of the hero prop. The cube itself measures 2 inches on each side and weighs about 8 ounces. The Argus Cube comes in a special crate box as seen in the movie!
The Argus Cube, so named by the scientist studying the only alien ever to be captured alive, is a biomechanical miracle. Each cube is an organic magnet, capable of reassembling itself on an atomic level to fit almost any purpose. The cubes, which appear in the movie Super 8, are the building blocks of the alien’s spaceship. Essentially indestructible, thousands of cubes were recovered when the ship crashed on earth in the 1950s. Scientists studying the cubes couldn’t determine their function until they applied an electrical charge that caused the cubes to momentarily form a part of the ship. Ages 14 and up.
