‘Tinsman Road’ Director Robbie Banfitch on His Lo-fi Found Footage Ghost Story

Writer and director Robbie Banfitch made a splash in the horror world with the release of his cosmic horror found footage nightmare, The Outwaters. Now, he’s pivoting into something a little more melancholy with his second film, Tinsman Road, a lo-fi ghost story shot on Mini-DV about a man trying to make sense of the disappearance of his sister.
In the film:
Independent to the bone and shot fully on gritty 4:3 Mini-DV in the backwoods of New Jersey, Tinsman Road takes the audience on an emotionally winding voyage into the wilderness of death and sorrow. The story centers on a young man as he navigates the serpentine mystery surrounding his long-missing sister and their family home.
I sat down with Banfitch to talk about his love letter to New Jersey, working so closely with his mom, and how his films connect to The Real Housewives universe.
