‘The Punishing’: First Look at John Boyega & Cara Delevingne in Supernatural Thriller
Deadline shares today the first images from the supernatural The Punishing, written and directed by Chris Sparling (Buried).
The pics give us our first look at stars Cara Delevingne (Suicide Squad) and John Boyega (Star Wars, Attack the Block) in the film that’s currently in post-production.
The Punishing is set on a remote Icelandic island “where a man miraculously recovers from a terminal illness — but his wife soon discovers the land’s healing powers come at a terrifying price.”
Spooky Pictures (Late Night With the Devil, Watcher, Strange Darling, Hokum, Anything But Ghosts), Redwire Pictures, and Tiki Tane Pictures are behind the project, said to be rooted in Scandinavian folklore.
Ignite is representing international sales for the film and launching dealmaking at the Cannes market, alongside WME Independent and UTA Independent Film Group representing domestic rights.
Producers are Steven Schneider of Spooky Pictures, William Shockley and Tom Brady of Tiki Tane Pictures, Luke Daniels of Redwire Pictures, Andrew Corkin of Uncorked Productions and Boyega.
The film was fully financed by Redwire and Tiki Tane.
