New Look at Maika Monroe and Ruth Wilson in ‘Victorian Psycho’

'Victorian Psycho'

Horror maven Maika Monroe (It Follows, Longlegs, Watcher) channels American Psycho‘s Patrick Bateman in Victorian Psycho, screening at the ongoing Cannes market before hitting theaters this fall from Bleeker Street.

Set in Victorian England, Victorian Psycho follows an eccentric governess who arrives at a remote gothic manor, where strange happenings stir suspicion that she’s not what she seems.

Directed by Zachary Wigon, the pic is based on Virginia Feito’s novel of the same name, with Feito adapting her own work.

Today, THR shares a new look at the film, displaying Monroe and co-star Ruth Wilson in the Gothic horror, in theaters September 252026.

“It terrified me,” Monroe told the mag. “I knew that it would be the hardest role that I have ever done — and so incredibly different from anything I’ve ever done.”

Thomasin McKenzie (Last Night in Soho), Jason Isaacs (A Cure for Wellness, “White Lotus”), and Jacobi Jupe (The Exorcist) also star.

Victorian Psycho is produced by Dan Kagan (Longlegs) under his Traffic banner as well as Sebastien Raybaud (Greenland: Migration) for Anton and Wigon, in association with Anonymous Content.

“Zach’s vision is thrilling, and we know every frame will be shocking, unique, and for lack of a better word, cutting,” said Kent Sanderson, CEO at Bleecker Street.
