EXCLUSIVE: Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema’s Evil Dead Burn opens in theaters next week on July 10, leaving horror fans with one burning question:
What’s the popcorn bucket going to look like?
After asking fans on social media what they’d most like to see, the answer was almost immediate. Horror fans didn’t want something practical. They wanted something ridiculous. Something so over the top that it would instantly become one of the greatest movie theater collectibles ever made.
And that’s exactly what Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema delivered.
Well… sort of.
If you caught the first trailer for Evil Dead Burn, you probably remember the jaw-dropping moment where one unfortunate family member is slammed onto the open lower rack of a dishwasher, impaled by a forest of upward-facing kitchen knives. Just as the victim realizes how bad things are about to get, a Deadite crawls on top of them, face to face, before the trailer cuts to black.
It’s easily one of the trailer’s biggest “holy shit” moments, and fans quickly began calling for a dishwasher popcorn bucket.
While you won’t be able to buy one at your local theater, Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema actually went ahead and built it anyway.
The promotional collectible is exactly what you’d hope for: a miniature dishwasher complete with exposed knife rack. Open the door, and you’ll find the popcorn inside. It’s absurd. It’s completely impractical. And it’s absolutely perfect.
Unfortunately, this isn’t one you’ll be able to take home from the concession stand. The dishwasher bucket was created strictly as a promotional display piece, inspired by the Evil Dead fandom suggestions.
Still, you have to appreciate a studio that’s willing to lean into the joke. It’s exactly the kind of unhinged marketing an Evil Dead movie deserves. And who knows? Maybe one day it’ll end up in the hands of one very lucky fan.
Until then, we’ll just admire it from a safe distance… preferably with the dishwasher door closed.
Evil Dead Burn is in theaters July 10.
