10 Netflix Thrillers That’ll Have You On The Edge Of Your Seat

Netflix recently acquired Oldboy, which put me in the mood for more thrillers. While very few movies are on the same level as Park Chan-wook’s masterpiece, there is always some fun to be found within the twists and turns of a good mystery. Especially, when the secrets and lies lead to a little bit of murder. Which is why I’ve been surfing the streamer for more titillating titles. Luckily for me, it doesn’t end with the films we know live on the app like, Inside Man and The Devil All The Time. You could “Netflix and Thrill” all weekend because they have something for everyone. Whether you want more action-based thrillers or family scandals worth killing over, you can probably find something in these 10 films below for your viewing pleasure.

All Good Things (2010)

What seems like a fairytale romance between a wealthy man and a poor woman ends in disaster when he’s suspected of murdering his wife. This may scream Hallmark Channel romance gone wrong, but it’s based on a true story. It also stars Ryan Gosling and Kirsten Dunst as the couple that seems to have stepped out of a Gillian Flynn novel. After watching this movie, I don’t need to dig too deep into the true crime it’s based on. This journey was more than Kenough to stress me out.

Devil In A Blue Dress (1995)

A war hero is hired to find a woman, which leads to him getting entangled in a political scandal in 1948 Los Angeles. This Denzel Washington thriller was slept on when it came out, which is not my fault because I was a fetus. However, now is a good time to check it out while it’s available on Netflix. Also, Don Cheadle is in the cast, so why haven’t you already hit play? This world desperately needs more Washington and Cheadle films posthaste.

The Call (2020)

A phone call connects two women living in different decades in the same home. This movie is one of my favorite Netflix finds. This South Korean thriller is deadly, supernatural, and filled with surprises. Do yourself a favor and check it out tonight if you haven’t already. I also want to start the campaign to retroactively give Jeon Jong-seo every award she should have gotten for her performance.

The Chalk Line (2022)

A couple takes in a traumatized young girl found wandering the area alone. I love a Spanish thriller as much as the next person. So, when I saw it claim the #1 spot on the Netflix charts a few times, I investigated. I’m here to tell you this movie goes everywhere but where I assumed it was going. The acting is also pretty great, but I’m still trying to figure out how we got to where we ended up.

I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore (2017)

A depressed woman finds purpose after being robbed when she tracks down the thieves with the help of her neighbor. This comedic thriller saw Melanie Lynskey and Elijah Wood working together long before Yellowjackets. If you like a little laughter with your danger, this thriller is for you. Even if you don’t, it’s probably still for you. Because when has Melanie Lynskey ever led you to anything that wasn’t the moment? I rest my case.

iBoy (2017)

A guy wakes up from a coma to find smartphone fragments embedded in his brain that have given him superpowers. I can admit this premise sounds flimsy. However, this movie is a nice palette cleanser between all the doom and gloom, and it also has Maisie Williams in the cast. If you’ve been trying to forget the last season of Game Of Thrones ever happened but still want more for her, your wish has been granted.

Inheritance (2020)

After the patriarch of a powerful family dies, his daughter discovers a secret inheritance that might destroy their family. This movie had the misfortune of coming out during the pandemic. However, viewers have found it while it’s on Netflix and given it its moment in the sun. They even got it to the #1 spot on the charts a few times. If you want to see Lily Collins and Simon Pegg head this big family scandal thriller, go to the app now.

Missing (2023)

When a teen’s mother goes missing while on vacation, she must do everything she can to find her from home using the internet. This movie was the perfect follow-up to Searching. As if continuing the streak of banger screenlife mysteries wasn’t enough, the film also stars Storm Reid and Nia Long. I feel like the movie should’ve been given an award just for landing both of them in the cast. Like what other movie told via computer screens is firing at that level?

The Rental (2020)

Two couples’ celebratory weekend getaway ends in murder. I wasn’t expecting much from this one, but I should have in hindsight. After all, Dan Stevens, Alison Brie, Sheila Vand, and Jeremy Allen White are the leads of the film. If they are not the four horsemen of the weird and stressful apocalypse who is? What seems like a predictably easy time, soon takes some dark and unexpected turns until you worry if anyone will be left alive by the end.

Your Lucky Day (2023)

A dispute over a lottery ticket leads to a hostage situation and witnesses needing to make some hard decisions if they want a cut of $156 million. I love thrillers that also double as social experiments. We’d all do plenty of things for a piece of a 156 million-dollar jackpot in this economy. So, these stakes are high and relatable as hell. The movie also stars the late Angus Cloud, so it’s also one of the five feature-length movies we have to remember him by.
