Ryuhei Kitamura's adaptation of Clive Barker's story Midnight Meat Train has seen its fair share of troubles trying to pull out of the station. Near name changes, delays and rumors were bouncing all around, and then word came that the pic was missing its May 16th arrival. Times were looking bleak.

Damn does this news piss me off. Various sources across the industry and the ‘net are reporting that Ryuhei Kitamura’s Midnight Meat Train won’t be pulling into the theatrical station on May 16th as Lionsgate originally planned.

Today we were sent over the full synopsis and first pic from the set of on my most anticipated movies of this or any year, Midnight Meat Train. For those of you who have forgotten it’s based on an older Clive Barker story of the same name featured in his Books of Blood collection, and marks the U.S.

Midnight Meat Train is one of those movies we’ve been hearing about for so long at so many stages of development that it almost seems too good to be true that it’s finally happening. But it is, folks, and with none other than Ryuhei (Versus) Kitamura at the helm. Could you ask for anything cooler?

With the AFM show in full swing, our man on the scene Andrew Kasch just called in with some interesting news. Clive Barker's short story "The Midnight Meat Train," which originally appeared in his Books of Blood anthology, has just hit the pre-production fast track with a brand spanking new director -- Ryuhei Kitamura.
