Let's Get Cute with the Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare PS4 Developer DiaryLook at your DVDs. If your beloved copy of Maniac sits next to a beaten up copy of The Little Mermaid, we have news for you. For those who love horror but have a soft spot for bright colors and all things cute, here’s a look at bringing Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare to life on the PS4.

Aside from revealing that the game will charge ahead at the PS4’s standard, 1080p/60 fps, it will also feature full cross play with the Playstation Vita. So you can play Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare in the two most important places in your house: on the couch and in bed. Finally, we won’t have to choose!

Playstation users who pre-order the game will get two digital card packs and special customization for their plants and zombies. These will feature special “hat packs,” allowing players to wear hats from other favorites like Fat Princess and Playstation super heavyweights Ratchet and Clank and Sly Cooper.

The game will feature further character customization with costumes and items, a handful of them granting your slayer of cuteness special abilities. A great sequel needs to see some favorite characters return, and this is no exception. Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare will mark the return of Peashooter and Sunflower as well as some new giggling zombie slayers: Ice Cactus, and Hot Rod Chomper. Plus zombies… there’ll be tons of zombies.

But let’s not forget the moneymaker, multiplayer. Players will find three multiplayer modes in Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare. Two 12 vs. 12 mega battle royal rumbles called “Garden & Graveyards” and “Team Vanquish” plus “Garden Ops,” a four-player co-op mode. And in case you have company over, split-screen gameplay and “Boss Mode” are also offered.

Pop Cap Games’ Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare will be coming to the Playstation 4 on August 19th, going head to head with Diablo: Ultimate Evil Edition. August is shaping up to be great month for horror fans with two games on the same day.
