UK’s Celluloid Screams Announces Opening Film – The Editor

For another year, Sheffield’s Showroom Cinema will play host to the horror jamboree that is Celluloid Screams from October 24 to 26. Now we have word on the festival’s opening film, which is… *drum roll* – Astron-6’s hotly anticipated The Editor!

Celluloid Screams is pleased to announce the opening film of the festival’s 2014 edition will be ‘The Editor’, the highly anticipated new film from Canadian filmmaking collective Astron-6. The makers of ‘Father’s Day’ and ‘Manborg’ return with their own unique take on the Italian giallo, starring genre icons Udo Kier, Lawrence Harvey and Tristan Risk, which will officially open Celluloid Screams 2014 on Friday 24th October.
Astron-6 co-founders Adam Brooks, Matthew Kennedy and Conor Sweeney will attend the festival as special guests to present ‘The Editor’ and also a retrospective screening of Astron-6 short films, both of which will be followed by Q&As.
Celluloid Screams Festival Director Robert Nevitt said: “Anyone who has attended Celluloid Screams in the past will know that we have an ongoing obsession with Astron-6, and we’re extremely pleased to be opening our 2014 edition with their most ambitious film to date. As if this wasn’t exciting enough, we’re thrilled to be welcoming Adam, Matt and Conor in person to the festival to showcase their extraordinary body of work.”
Celluloid Screams: Sheffield Horror Film Festival returns to Showroom Cinema for its sixth edition from Friday 24 – Sunday 26 October 2014, with a weekend packed full of premieres, previews, special guests and more. After a successful debut in 2017, the Celluloid Screams All-nighter returns this year on Saturday 25th October, this time with four slabs of sci-fi horror goodness. Full details of this and the rest of our exciting 2014 programme will be announced on Friday 5th September, when festival weekend passes and tickets go on sale.

The Editor Synopsis
A one-time (and now one-handed) master film editor toiling in the cinematic sweatshops of 1970s Italy becomes the prime suspect in a series of brutal murders.
