Warner Bros. Spreading the Sickness with Contagion 2

Last year Warner Brothers proved that you don't need ghosts, killers, or monsters to make a truly frightening movie. Steven Soderbergh's Contagion did a fine job of adding an unhealthy dose of paranoia to our lives, and it's not stopping there.

According to It's on the Grid, Contagion 2 is officially in the works with an OWA (Open Writing Assignment) out from Warner Bros. Scott Z. Burns, who wrote the screenplay for the original film, will be producing this time around. Basically that means Warner is in the process of fielding pitches from new writers to either bring in something original or task them with going in a direction they already have in mind.

It is not yet known whether Steven Soderbergh will return to direct, but we honestly wouldn't count on it. Still, stranger things have happened.

A realistic approach that proved straight up realism can be very light on drama and interest. It was a brave experiment that I wouldn't want to sit through a second time.
