Exclusive Video Interviews: Bobcat Goldthwait, Joel Murray, Tara Lynne Barr Talk God Bless America and More
We recently caught up with filmmaker Bobcat Goldthwait and the stars of his God Bless America, Joel Murray and Tara Lynne Barr, to discuss the bold and bloody comedy, their experiences working on the flick and what all three of them hope audiences will take away from its social commentary.
In writer/director Goldthwait's latest blisteringly dark comedy God Bless America, we are introduced to a lovable sad-sack named Frank (Murray), who is fed up with the downward spiral of American culture. As he's left wallowing in his empty post-divorce life after finding out he's harboring a life-threatening brain tumor, Frank decides that it's time to reintroduce the world to a little common courtesy and takes out his frustration by getting a gun and taking back society, one inconsiderate person at a time.
During his exploits Frank befriends an unusual high school student named Roxy (Barr), who shares his sense of rage and disenfranchisement due to her being somewhat of a social outcast and just a little too smart for her own good. Once she witnesses Frank's plan in action, she joins him on a nationwide assault, culminating with a bloody but hilarious standoff between Frank and Roxy and the world.
Check out our video interviews with the God Bless America trio below and make sure to catch the flick once it hits limited theaters nationwide on Friday, May 11th, courtesy of Magnet Releasing (it's currently available on VOD as well).
