Full Moon's Subspecies Crawl Its Way to Blu-ray

Out of all of the Full Moon library, one has to wonder just what in the hell Subspecies is doing coming to Blu-ray; yet, it is. While we don't understand this choice, we do know that somewhere out there MattFini, aka Masked Slasher, is doing the Electric Slide of Joy and Bewildermentâ„¢.

According to High Def Digest, Full Moon Pictures has revealed that its next Blu-ray release will be Subspecies in a 20th Anniversary Edition available only at Full Moon Direct on July 25th.

No word on extras just yet, but when we know, you'll know! In the interim we'll just keep pining for Castle Freak.

Synopsis
Deep within the heart of Transylvania, a dark power from the past has resurfaced. Now, three beautiful young research students are caught in a supernatural battle for control of the vampire kingdom.

You can buy some leftover Halloween makeup at Spencer's Gifts, use your cell phone recorder, and ask a few random strangers in your neighborhood to act like zombies for an hour or so and make a much better film than The Dead Hate The Living.

How I wish!

Why? That's easy. It's one of the best Full Moon movies, by far. Puppetmaster is already on Blu-ray, so this is the obvious next choice. Not only that, I was lucky enough to have a friend who DVR'd the Monsters HD airing of Subspecies in 1080i 16:9. It was absolutely beautiful. Unlike most Full Moon movies, Subspecies has a lot of outdoor, on-location shots, and what a beautiful location it was. The Monsters HD transfer was pristine, too. Having seen this in HD, I can tell you that this will benefit from Blu-ray more than probably any other movie from Full Moon. (I'd also really like to see Shadowzone, Netherworld, and Dark Angel make their way to Blu-ray.)

Been a long time since I saw this but I remember at least one of these films being shockingly well shot with wonderful production design.

I LOVE the Subspecies films! I like them just as much as Puppet Master 1-3.
