James Cameron Coming on Board to Produce Guillermo del Toro Lovecraft Adaptation At the Mountains of Madness!
James Cameron, Guillermo del Toro, and H.P. Lovecraft. Can you think of three names that sound better together? We can't and now thanks to some exciting new developments we might just be seeing del Toro's 3D adaptation of the Lovecraft tale for Universal sooner than we thought!
Deadline New York reports that they are hearing that del Toro will next direct At the Mountains of Madness, a project he's been circling for years. The big surprise? Avatar director James Cameron will come aboard as a producer. That kind of star power will most certainly move this one to the fast track.
Cameron's presence helped win over the studio with pre-production beginning in the next few weeks, and shooting to begin next summer.
In the Lovecraft tale, a gruesome discovery made during a scientific expedition to the South Pole in the 1930s hints at the true origin of mankind having come from elder gods from another planet. Bad things happen when those life forms are awakened.
Can it get any better? Nope, it simply cannot.
