Lionsgate's The Last Exorcism to Premiere at the LA Film Festival
Just when we were beginning to think that religious-themed horror films had gone the way of the dodo bird, Lionsgate readies a promising little chiller that looks to revitalize the subgenre. And it's about time!
Satanic horror flick The Last Exorcism will be debuting at the 2010 Los Angeles Film Festival, which runs June 17th-27th, premiering at the Ford Amphitheater on an outdoor screen for extra ambiance!
Disillusioned by years of defrauding poor believers of their hard-earned cash, evangelical preacher Cotton Marcus decides to put the record straight by producing a spectacular documentary. A letter from Louis, a poor farmer begging Cotton's help in driving the devil off his land, gives Cotton the perfect opportunity to expose the phoniness of his ministry. But then he meets Louis' disturbed young daughter, Nell ...
Brought to you by producer Eli Roth and director Daniel Stamm (A Necessary Death), the film stars Patrick Fabian (Big Love) and Ashley Bell (The United States of Tara) and looks like it could be one of the most promising horror flicks we might see this year.
Be sure to hit up the official LA Film Fest site for more info, and if you can't make it in June, look for The Last Exorcism when it rolls out nationwide on August 27th!
