The short film Three Skeleton Key has been making a lot of noise on the festival circuit, and now that it’s gotten our attention, we figured we’d loop you guys in as this flick is one to keep an eye out for.

I read the short story when I was young and was absolutely terrified by the mysterious ship and the creatures that tried to the break into the lighthouse,” says writer/director Andrew Hamer of the classic horror story by George G. Toudouze. “The suspense was unbearable. I had always been interested in seeing the story adapted onto a film screen. And last year I finally had the opportunity to write and direct a film adaptation. My film explores the claustrophobic, isolated existence of working on a lighthouse, as well as the agony and terror of classic films like Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds and John Carpenter’s The Thing. In addition to the outside threat, the men must deal with their own resentment and animosity towards each other, including the racial discrimination that lighthouse assistant Andre Rolle faces from lighthouse keeper Jim Beal. As the crew struggles to figure out what to do, they realize they are on their own inside the lighthouse, cut off from the outside world.

Robert Fleet, Greg Perrow, Paul Rae, and Dan White star.
