Day of the Dead Re-Shot

Day of the Dead gets re-shotAh, yes, the Day of the Dead remake helmed by Lake Placid mastermind Steve Miner; sometimes, when it’s been a while since a movie was mentioned, I forget how much I’m not looking forward to it. Then someone comes along and reminds me.

In this case it was Arrow in the Head, who got word from Dead redux scribe Jeffrey Reddick that the film is still in a holding pattern, with some reshoots planned to go down very soon. Could that be in reaction to the first reviews that started showing up, which we told you about back here? Perhaps…

Since Jim Dudelson (horror’s new Anti-Christ, and not in a cool way) is behind the remake in some way, shape, or form (he’s a producer) it’s almost got an instant Certificate of Suck out of the gate. Not even the directorial skllls of Miner (who also did Friday the 13th Parts II & III, you’ll recall) can save this one, I fear.

The good news is that Nu Image is really behind the film,” Reddick told AITH. “I was worried after the low box office of recent releases…but it hasn’t spooked them.” And really, why should it? The name is enough to get butts in seats when the remake is out, I think, and that’s all they really care about.
