No million-dollar budgets or factory productions. This is the space for the little guy with not but a developer toolkit and a dream. So if you’re down to roll the dice on something different, then stick around and check it out!

Welcome back for your Daily Dose of indie horror! Today we have Disconnected by developer Christoph Frey. Known best for The Space Between and Horror Vacui, we are looking at one of their earlier titles, a fairly straightforward game about the difficulties of trying to kick it with your pals.

Disconnected begins with the player attempting to hang out with their friend Anna. You arrive at 8, get let up to the apartment, only to find that your friend is not there, and the front door is locked. Who let you into the building? Who’s locked it behind you? Why is Anna so unhelpful? These are the questions that ring as you do the only thing you can do in this situation; bumble about in the dark.

The game is a traditional spooky walking simulator, with some really interesting artistic additions. For one, Disconnected displays all the text messages you get on screen, showing the player all the story without the pain of having to pick up suspiciously specific notes lying around. On top of that, the camera effects are cranked up to 11, with some powerful fisheye lens and VCR visuals. It’s a winning combo.
