Ultra-Indie Daily Dose: Mannequins Continue To Be Spooky In The Lost Residents
Hello, you glorious gluttons for all things indie horror! Are you just starving for the newest of the new, the most unknownest of the unknown? If so, you’ve come to the right place. Welcome to the Ultra-Indie Daily Dose! In this series, we’re going to pick a new game every day from an indie horror creator you’ve probably never heard of. No million-dollar budgets or factory productions. This is the space for the little guy with not but a developer toolkit and a dream. So if you’re down to roll the dice on something different, then stick around and check it out!
Welcome back for your Ultra-Indie Daily Dose! Courtesy of developer Rabbyt is HPS1 submission The Lost Residents. Sequel to their previous The New Resident, a submission for the Two-Minute Horror Jam, this game is a continuation of the spooky moving mannequin story.
In the previous game, you investigated some mysterious missing persons. In The Lost Residents, you’re more or less doing the same, though this time, with a lot more detail. The CEO of a company called MannCorp is all but certainly behind the missing people, and you’ve got to go into this creepy house in order to find out what’s what. But unlike many rich murderers, rather than a traditional security system, Mr. ManncCorp has a delightful array of dolls and mannequins to stop you in your tracks.
Where Rabbytt began in the two minutes long The New Resident has been done to completion in The Lost Residents. The gameplay is much more fleshed out with more complex areas to explore, including a gigantic maze. There are also a number of fully voice-acted notes from the CEO killer himself, giving both this and the first game a lot more depth.
