Darla (Short)
Starring Matt Fowler
Directed by Eric Dresden Connelly
The dangers of dumpster-diving are thrust in our faces in the short film, Darla, from director Eric Dresden Connelly, and just because this thing runs at a sub 6 minute total, doesn’t mean that you can be ultimately entertained.
Starring Matt Fowler as a homeless man on just another night of cart-pushing in a grimy back-alley, there arises a familiar sound to him originating from a nearby trash bin – will his curiosities get the better of him, or will he simply roll on by, leaving the desperate sound to resonate throughout the darkened passageway? Come on, I’ll keep you in the game, but I’m not going to throw it for you – the thing’s only 6 freakin minutes long! With a stellar make-up job from Fowler’s wife (Kelsey Boutte), the illusion of a disheveled destitute individual is right in your face and adds to the allure.
Simplicity is key, and for something being over in the blink of an eye, Darla is a quickie that should prove to be entertaining to those who just feel the need to lift the lid on Pandora’s Box.
