Del Toro to Co-Write Vampire Trilogy
As if the man doesn’t have enough on his plate already, the AP is reporting that Guillermo del Toro is slated to collaborate on a trilogy of vampire novels with renowned crime author Chuck Hogan. According to publisher William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins, the first installment entitled The Strain will debut next summer.
It’s an exciting prospect that I’ll just let del Toro himself explain, ““The idea is epic in scope. The trilogy advances in unexpected ways, and each book contains unique and surprising revelations about the history, physiology, and lore of the vampiric race, tracing its roots all the way back to its Old Testament origins.” Old Testament, eh? Guess we can expect a slightly different scenario than the one presented in Dracula 2000.
Considering del Toro’s schedule is booked for the next nine years(!), I can’t imagine when he’s going to find the time to do this, but apparently he enjoys having his irons in a helluva lot of fires. As always, we’ll keep you posted as we learn more.
