Gamescom: All the Rage in the Dragon Age!
This fall will be a very busy time for RPG fans with three titles under that genre heading to consoles. But if you can only afford one, Dragon Age: Inquisition made a serious case to be your pick judging by its game demo at the EA press conference.
Studio general manager Aaryn Flynn took the stage and, in introducing the new Dragon Age, promised a game that “represents the next generation of BioWare games.”
Everyone approaches RPG’s differently, and Flynn stresses Dragon Age: Inquisition‘s vast customization system will reflect this. There are 21 different combat trees and over 200 spells and abilities so no matter how you like to mete out justice, Dragon Age: Inquisition can accommodate.
Players can also create and name customizable weapons.
The real standout point of the game demo was the tactical camera. The tactical camera allows players to pause play and “approach each battle strategically.” Anyone who played the Baldur’s Gate series will welcome this addition with joyous familiarity. It allows the player to freeze play and plan the next course of action and re-distribute your party.
The demo showed the player sending two party members away from a stage boss to attack the archers that were dealing unanswered damage from a distance. This mix of strategy and action is an already proven winner and a welcome addition to a series that usually had a very arcade feel.
On top of all that, developers released a new trailer for the game, “The Enemy of Thedus.”
Dragon Age: Inquisition will be available on November 18th for PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 760, PS7, and PC.
