Upcoming Zombie Film Ushers in Generation Z
I’ve always said that there simply aren’t enough zombie movies in this world. It’s such an untapped sub-genre, which is why it’s always so exciting when someone comes along and decides to make a movie about those undead biters who just don’t get enough love here in the horror genre.
Okay, so I’m of course being completely sarcastic, but if zombies are your thing and you can’t get enough of them, read on for details about a new film that looks to put the bite back into Romero’s creations!
Per Screen Daily, principal photography has just begun on the zombie thriller Generation Z with an attached cast that includes Dougray Scott (pictured), Jessica de Gouw, Martin McCann, Claire Goose, Jassa Ahluwalia, and Elen Rhys.
Set in the wake of an apocalyptic zombie outbreak, the film centers on Melanie (de Gouw) and her boyfriend, Lewis (McCann), who visit a safari retreat – The ReZort – where every paying guest has a license to kill the undead.
There they meet Archer (Scott), a former zombie hunter who has to step up when the security system at the ReZort crashes and unleashes thousands of bloodthirsty zombies back into the wild.
Handling directing duties is Steve Barker, known for the Nazi zombie flicks Outpost and Outpost 2. He directs from a script by Paul Gerstenberger.
The film, produced by Matador Pictures, The Captain Starlight Company, and UMedia, will be shot on location in Wales and on Mallorca, Spain. UMedia International is handling world sales.
