While it’s good to have some news that Platinum Dunes are finally looking at working on some original stuff as opposed to remake after remake, it’s too bad the premise of The Butcherhouse Chronicles doesn’t sound like anything that original…
The film, which STYD learned Platinum is teaming with Paramount to produce, follows four teenagers who explore a supposedly haunted house, uncovering their small town’s horrible secret in the process. Ugh, why is it always teenagers or college kids these days? Doesn’t anything scary happen to adults?
The Butcherhouse Chronicles actually began life as a play, so perhaps there’ll be a bit more depth to this than the usual fare. One can hope, no? The studios are looking for a director now, working from a script by Michael Hidalgo.
