Sacrilicious Gingerdead Man 2 Trailer Arisen
Certain people who frequent this website refuse to let me live down giving The Gingerdead Man a rave review. Many love to hold that one over my head any chance they get. Heck, I’ve even joked about it myself. But you know what, I enjoyed the heck out of it. Sue me. I may have been in the minority, but god help me I thought it was a ton of stupid fun. And it would seem so did a lot of people; how else does one explain the existence of Gingerdead Man 2: The Passion of the Crust? It’s an established fact that moviemakers do not make sequels to bad movies nobody liked, so clearly I am not alone in my praise for the original.
For those that have already forgotten what I wrote about last year in regards to Gingerdead Man 2: The Passion of the Crust or are simply too lazy to click the link to that article (““>Gingerdead Man 2, Bitches” – March 2007), the sequel you’ve all been waiting for unleashes the homicidal cookie on the set of a terrible z-grade horror movie – fitting to say the least. Also, probably rather cost reducing too, set-wise. Veteran scream queen Michelle Bauer even co-stars as a character named Polly Bunderhoof.
Arrow in the Head has scored the exclusive first look at the trailer to end all trailers. How they pulled off this ultimate coup is anyone’s guess but I’ll be damned if Gingerdead Man 2: The Passion of the Crust doesn’t look like scrumptiously bad movie fun. But don’t take my word for it – my judgment in regards to killer pastry movies is clearly dubious to some degree; just take a gander at the trailer for yourself. Whatever you thought of the original, the sequel’s trailer is worth two minutes of your time.
Alas, the great, and by great I mean bat-shit insane, Gary Busey will not be returning to lend his voice to the doughy maniac. Mr. Busey was probably too busy doing other things (i.e. being bat-shit insane) to make an encore. Disappointing, yes, but a foul-mouthed blade-wielding gingerbread man is still a foul-mouthed blade-wielding gingerbread man regardless of whose voice is coming out of his mouth to hurl obscenities at his victims.
No DVD release date has been announced yet but I’d suspect its release will be sooner rather than later. It seems kind of hard to believe given the film’s subtitle and the sacrilegious nature of the artwork that they’d fail to get it on DVD shelves in time for Easter. And yes, it’s not just artwork – the Gingerdead Man really does get crucified in the film. It’s also in the trailer so check it out and be aghast.
