Banshee!!! Trailer!
Banshee!!! is the latest offering from Synthetic Cinema International, the company behind Werewolf: The Devil’s Hound, Blood Descendants, and (my faves) the Jaws spoof Trees and its even sillier sequel, The Root of All Evil. Their newest venture into monsterdom takes the legend of the mythical Irish monster known as the Banshee and makes into an unstoppable, almost gargoyle-esque monster.
“A group of college friends on a spring break camping trip are stalked and slashed by an unknown creature with the ability to make them hallucinate through sound waves. The survivors hold up refuge in an isolated farmhouse, cut off from all communication. Now, they have to come up with a plan to kill this unrelenting creature before it kills them.”
The first trailer for Banshee!!! is up at Fangoria right now. They’re hailing it as an exclusive even though the same trailer is also up at Synthetic Cinema’s website. Then again, Fango’s version is much bigger than the one on the production company website. What’s more important is that the trailer gives the impression that Banshee!!! might hold some promise. If nothing else, it certainly looks like a lively gore-soaked monster mash.
Regarding the trailer, director Colin Theys told Fangoria, “It shows just a hint of what the Banshee can do. There are several huge action scenes not represented at all in the trailer, so while we’re very excited about getting it out, we’ve definitely still got more tricks up our sleeves.” Theys went on to say something that should end the worries of anyone who thinks this will just be another monster movie where the creature doesn’t get any real screentime until the closing moments, “This monster doesn’t just make a cameo at the end. So often in lower-budgeted movies, the majority of the effects effort goes into just one or two scenes, but in Banshee!!! we’ve got action through the entire story.”
Check out the trailer at Fangoria, head over to Synthetic Cinema’s website, and even feel free to give the Banshee!!! MySpace page a visit.
FYI, Synthetic Cinema’s next project currently in pre-production is something called Sasquatch Attack.
Wonder if all those exclamation points are necessary in the Dread Central forums!
