Paranormal ActivityAs the Berlin Film Festival goes down, deals are happening left and right for both old and new films. In the UK, Icon has snatched up all UK and Australian rights for Paranormal Activity (review), which you will recall got a lot of attention a few weeks back when Dreamworks bought it for both distro and a remake, to be helmed by original director Oren Peli, Screen Daily reports.

Icon also grabbed up the rights to the upcoming horror Shelter, in which Jonathan Rhys Myers will be playing a demonic preacher who threatens the daughter of a psychiatrist played by Julianne Moore.

Additionally, Icon will also be handling UK distro on The Grudge 3 and has UK and Aussie rights for Boogeyman 3, The Messengers 2 and Rise 2, all from Ghost House Pictures. Wow, when did the Raimi genre shingle become such a whore for sequels?

All we know is we’re happy for Paranormal Activity, which is garnering all sorts of attention because of how damn effective it is working with little to no money. Once you guys get a chance to see it we hope you can agree!
